Richard Moen, 68, of Webster City, died Saturday, March 7, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Linda Bibb And Rev. Maynard Moen officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Asbury Methodist Church and prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post # 191. Arrangements were made with Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Richard Dean Moen, son of Lowell and Ella Jensen Moen was born on July 4, 1940 in Humboldt, Iowa. He received his education from Stanhope High School graduating in 1958. On February 11, 1962 he married Shirley Chicken at Stanhope. He had worked for Stanhope Lumber, Ralston Feed in consumer sales, Nissen Company in meat processing, and at Spahn and Rose as a general laborer. Richard worked as a truck driver for Van Diest Supply and Smithway in Fort Dodge. He was the manager at the Touchdown truck stop in Webster City and most recently was the driver recruiter for Smithway in Fort Dodge, retiring in 2002. He is survived by his wife Shirley, daughter Kathy Moen of Cedar Rapids; Son and daughter-in-law Kenny and Kellie Moen of Badger; grandsons Carl Moen, Nathan Moen, and Tyler Moen all of Webster City; brothers Bob and Jan Moen, of Webster City; Ron and Kathleen Beine Moen of Green Bay, WI; sister-in-law Linda and Don Thompson of Iowa Falls; mother-in-law, Doris Chicken of Webster City and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by both his parents and his father-in-law, Bill Chicken. He enjoyed going fishing, camping and especially enjoyed camping at the Iowa State Fair.
