Mike Baker, 70 of Webster City died Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Tennova Healthcare in Powell, Tennessee following a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Michael Dean Baker, son of John and Charlotte (Scott) Baker, was born May 25, 1953 in Georgia. He graduated from Webster City High School in 1971. On October 31, 1981, Mike was united in marriage to Kathy K. Powell Rollins at Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City. Mike was a trucker for various businesses over the years – including Hamilton County Secondary Roads, Smithway, Baker Transportation and he was the owner of Baker Trucking.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kathy; son, Bruce (Jenn) Rollins of Callender; daughter, Mickie (Keenan Elliott) Shubin of Webster City; grandchildren, Seth Murray, Tarron Streigle, Harley Bryson, Cedes Fletcher, Lexi Reding, Taylor Shubin, Bailee Shubin, Abie Meyer, Christopher Elliott, Makayla Chase; several great-grandchildren; four legged fur child, Dodie; brother, Jim (Max) Baker of Boone; sisters, Karen (Norm) Anderson of Webster City, Donna (Dale) Luhmann of Webster City, Sue (Jim) Nienaber of Coon Rapids, MN and many extended family members.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, John Baker; mother, Charlotte Richey; stepfather, Bob Richey; grandson, Bruce Rollins III; brother and sister-in-law, Denny and DJ Baker; and his four-legged companion, Princess.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Mike was well known for racing -modifieds, sprint cars and stock cars. He enjoyed watching westerns and trucking, but most importantly he loved his grandchildren and time spent with his family.
