Melvin Hanus, 67, of Webster City, died Saturday, May 15, 2010 at his home. A Memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the New Testament Church of Christ, with Rev. Richard Laird officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Melvin LeRoy Hanus, son of August and Ethel Johnson Hanus, was born June 24, 1942 on a farm south of Webster City. He received his education in the Woolstock Public School. On November 16, 1962, he married Barbara Spainhower at Boone. The couple resided in Webster City. He was a carpenter and also drove truck for several years. He retired in 1992, because of failing health. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; sons, Melvin Hanus, Jr. and Rod and Lisa Hanus all of Webster City; Randy Hanus of Frankfort, KY; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, son, William D. "Billy" Hanus; brothers, Rayner, Emil, Robert, Donald, Gary, Harold and Dean Hanus; sisters, Dorothy Connor and Norma Capelo.
