Marilyn Carlson

Marilyn Carlson, 90, of Stanhope died on Friday, August 14, 2026 at Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Stanhope Parish. Burial will follow at Lawn Hill Cemetery, south of Stanhope. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2026 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.

Marilyn Lee Gabrielson, daughter of Henry and Mary (Ballantine) Gabrielson, was born May 29, 1936 in rural Jewell. She graduated from Jewell High School. On April 17, 1955, Marilyn was united in marriage to Ronald Dick Carlson at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell.

She is survived by her children, Ronda (Brian) Nass of Rochester, MN, Steve (Lori) Carlson of Stanhope, Lori (Jon) Hanson of Stanhope, and David (Lea Ann) Carlson of Jewell; grandchildren, Bethany Olsen, Greg Nass, Jenny Nass, Cari Steinmann, Lynsey Carlson, Megan Elliott, Erin Herschberger, Jessica Bell, Molly Casey, Rebecca Gansen, and Kendra Gansen; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Norah, Trice, Holden, Monroe, Barrett, Thomas, Harrison, Emilia, Morgan, Joseph, Samuel, Ellie, Lydia, Hunter, Charlotte, and Ryan.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Ronald; her parents; sister, Maurine (Garvin) Olson; and brothers, Harris (Sylvia) Gabrielson and Harley (Virginia) Gabrielson.

Marilyn was a dedicated member of Stanhope Parish throughout her life. She cherished her time spent in recent years at Windsor Manor in Webster City. She held a deep love for her family, sewing dresses for each of her granddaughters and pants for her “one and only” grandson. Her memory will endure through her cherished recipes, including her beef and noodles and butterhorns.
