Marie B. Larson Kosbab, 81, of Stratford, formerly of Alcester, South Dakota, died Friday November 13, 2009 at the Stratford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. at the Big Springs Baptist Church in Alcester, South Dakota, with Pastor Daryll Runyan officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours before the service, at the Big Springs Baptist Church. Marie Bernice Erickson, daughter of Alvin and Deloris Hansen Erickson, was born January 7, 1928 at Hudson, SD. She received her education in the Union County area of South Dakota. On February 28, 1949, she married Fred Larson at the Big Springs Baptist. The couple farmed in the Alcester area. She worked in a Hawarden factory and at several nursing homes as a nursing aid. She also worked at area restaurants. Mr. Larson died April 3, 1986. In 1987, she married Paul Kosbab at Forman, ND. The couple moved to North Dakota. Paul died in 1994. She then lived in Alcester, Akron and Hawarden area. In 2004, she moved to Webster City, IA. and for the past 3 years has resided at Stratford. Marie and Fred were the parents of four children, Linda and Ray Davidson of Webster City; Charlotte and Don Vyhlidal of Pierce, NE; Janet Crissy and Mark Larson, all of Sioux Falls, SD; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters, Gertrude Schutte-Forbes of Denver, CO; Frances Miller-Huebner of Akron; brother, Donald Erickson of Denver, CO. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Arnold Erickson; grandson, Charles Wittstruck and great-grandson, Caleb Harms.
