Marie Ewing, 86, of Webster City, died Monday, April 25, 2011, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House at Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Foster Chapel, with Rev. Craig Blaufuss officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday prior to the service. Marie Jean Henrichs, daughter of James and Frona Piatt Henrichs, was born September 7, 1924 on a farm near Ogden. She received her education in the Paton Public School, graduating in 1942. On February 1, 1946, she married Valois Harold Ewing at Jefferson. The couple resided at Grand Junction and while Val worked for the Rural Electrification Association, they had resided in North and South Dakota, Nebraska and Missouri. From 1951 to 1956, they lived at Boone. She worked at the Maid-Rite in Boone. In 1957, the family moved to Webster City. She worked at the LeGore Pharmacy and the Olson Pharmacy for 14 years. She retired in 1989. After her retirement, she provided child care services for the neighborhood. Val died October 2, 2007. She continued to reside in Webster City. Marie is survived by her daughter, Deborah Abdel-Hadi of South Charleston, WV; son, Michael Ewing of Golden, CO; grandson, Ra`ed Abdel-Hadi and his fiancé, Samantha Pritt and granddaughter, Leila Abdel-Hadi; great-granddaughter, Serayah Pritt, all of West Virginia; brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Norma Henrichs of Boxholm; sister, Goldie Woltz of Jefferson; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Dorothy Henrichs of Boxholm; Keith and Mona Ewing of Kent, OH; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; three nephews; brothers and sisters-in-law, Leon Henrichs; LoDelle and Zelma Henrichs; Harold and Faith Henrichs; Virgil Henrichs; Dean and Pat Henrichs; brother-in-law, Weldon Woltz. Mrs. Ewing was a member of the First Congregationa - U.C.C., the Moose Family Center, a R.S.V.P. worker and a former den mother.
