Lyle Oberender, 94, of Webster City died Monday, May 27, 2024 at Franklin Country View in Hampton. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. A private family burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
Lyle Warren Oberender, son of Harold and Anna (Wing) Oberender, was born May 2, 1930, in Jewell. He graduated from Jewell High School in 1948 and attended Iowa State University for agriculture. Lyle was united in marriage on April 12, 1951 to Rosella Carol Meyeraan in Wellsburg. He served in the United States Marine Corps from Oct. 1951 – Oct. 1953. The couple lived in Washington D.C. before moving to Franklin County in 1953. Lyle worked for Eastern Iowa Breeders, later known as Carnation Farms and DHIA testing. In 1972 they moved to the family farm south of Kamrar, retiring in 2009 and moving to Webster City.
He is survived by his children, Janet (Rich) Tribolet of Story City, Joyce (Keith) Peters of Hampton, Jim Oberender of Story City, Steve Oberender of Iowa Falls, Neil Oberender of Durand, WI; daughter-in-law, Kim Oberender-Doolittle of Webster City; 18 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Lyle was preceded in death by his wife, Rosella in 2012; sons, Jerry Oberender, Kevin Oberender; daughter-in-law, Gloria Oberender; his parents; brothers, Carl, Orville and Wendell Oberender and sister, Mary Rahto.
He served on the town council in Popejoy, was a past 4H leader in Franklin County, member of the Kamrar Lions and the Hamilton County Pork Producers. Lyle was proud to have been able to go on the Brushy Creek Honor Flight.
