Leonard Severson

Leonard S. Severson, 82, of Webster City, died Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Hamilton Hospital. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Mike Kroona officiating. Burial will be prior to the memorial service in the Washington Lutheran Cemetery, south of Duncombe. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Leonard Sherlock Severson, son of Jacob and Ester Anderson Severson, was born April 30, 1927 at Webster City, Iowa He received his education from the Webster City schools. On Sept. 26. 1948, he married Audrey Fredricks at the Duncombe Lutheran Church. He farmed northwest of Webster City for many years. He retired in 1994 but continued to help in the family farming operation. Mrs. Severson died November 19, 2002. Leonard is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Mark and Linda (George) Severson and Craig Severson both of Webster City; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Cliff Curtis of Glenwood; grandchildren Shanda Hjelmeland and Amos Severson, both of Webster City; Ben Honig of Anchorage, AK and Shey Severson of Stanhope; great- grandchildren, Dawson, Dayne, Ava Hjelmeland; sisters Dona Jaycox and Vicki Mumper both of Webster and Mary (Don) Housberg of Corpus Christi, TX and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both his parents; wife, Audrey; brothers, John, Richard, Roger, and Larry Severson and an infant sister Beverley.
