Leonard S. Johnson, 91, of Webster City, died Monday, November 15, 2010 at the Mary Greeley Medical Center at Ames. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, southeast of Stanhope, with Rev. Andy Coyle officiating. Burial will be in the St. Paul's Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and at the church prior to the service. Leonard Sylvester Johnson, son of Lewis M. and Anna Serina (Sarah) Olson Johnson, was born September 9, 1919 on the family farm near Jewell. He attended rural schools in that area. During 1942 - 1943, he served with the U.S. Army. On September 19, 1942, he married Margaret L. Hersom at Fairmont, MN. The couple farmed in the Jewell area from 1943 until retiring in 1982 and moving to Webster City. Mrs.Johnson died November 19, 2001. He continued to reside in Webster City. Leonard is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Roger Kleven of Walnut Grove, MN; sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Deb Johnson of Hudson; Randy and Dixie Johnson of Storm Lake; grandchildren, Paul and Kelly Kleven; Dennis and Laura Kleven; Brad and Jodi Johnson; Corey and Robyn Johnson; Amy and Trevor Woods; Jeremy Johnson and Katie Johnson; 8 great-grandsons and 1 great-granddaughter; sister, Esther Ness of Story City, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Millie Johnson and 2 sisters in infancy. He was a life-long member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
