Leo P. Kunz, 61, of Lehigh, died Saturday, December 20, 2014 at the Van Diest Medical Center. A Memorial gathering will be held at 1:00 pm to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, December 26, 2014 at The Bridge. Burial will be in the St. Jacob's Catholic Cemetery at Graettinger at a later date. Leo Patrick Kunz, son of Elmer and Irene Waters Kunz, was born June 16, 1953 at St. Cloud, MN. He attended Webster City High School. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was united in marriage to Penny Weiner in Webster City. The couple later divorced. Leo was a heavy equipment operator for many years. He is survived by his son, Kado Kunz of Webster City; step-daughter, Melanie Weiner of North Carolina; brothers and sisters, Leonard (Roberta) Kunz of Iowa City; Charlene Worrick, Kay Paulson, Marilyn (Kenneth) Kepler, Beverly (Lark) Asklund, all of Webster City; Allen Kunz of Blairsburg; Elmer (Janice) Kunz of State Center; Alvin (Donna) Kunz of Wallingford; Karen (Joseph) Credit of Fort Dodge; several nieces and nephews; and his Yellow Labrador Retriever, Sadie. Leo was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Cynthia Jessen; brothers, Darold Kunz, Larry Kunz, Roland Kunz and Harry Dean Kunz, in infancy. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of the Hunt and Fish Club of Boone. He enjoyed socializing with his friends and was always looking for items to buy and sell as he loved to barter.
