Lena Havinga, 102, of Webster City, died Sunday, February 8, 2009 at the Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. John Wilson officiating. Burial will be in the Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church one hour before the service. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Lena Olthoff, daughter of Henry and Jennie Van Langen Olthoff, was born October 3, 1906, on a farm northeast of Kamrar. She attended a rural school northeast of Kamrar and graduated from Kamrar Public School in 1924. She attended Normal Training at Cedar Falls and taught in rural schools in the Kamrar area. On March 13, 1926, she married Marvin John Havinga. The couple resided at Kamrar. Mr. Havinga died June 25, 1963. In 1968, she moved from Kamrar to Webster City. She has resided at Southfield Wellness Community since January 1, 2007. Mrs. Havinga is survived by a daughter, Lila Havinga of Webster City; son-in-law, Gerald Middents of Dallas, TX; grandchildren; Susan and Billy Jack Vincent, Gregory Middents, all of Sherman, TX; great-grandchildren, Kari and Kaitlin Vincent; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Arlys Middents; her parents; brothers, Oltman, Joe, Louis and Wilfred Olthoff; sisters, Bertha Brinkema; Wempkie Jaycox; Edna Jaycox and Lillian Furman.
