Laura Weedman

Laura Weedman of West Des Moines, died Friday, February 12, 2016, at the age of 93. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center in Webster City. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Laura Dean Weedman was born June 8, 1922 to Fred and Nora Carpenter Weedman in Webster City. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1940. Laura worked various jobs all her life including Shady Oaks Restaurant, Lee's China Shop and Bacon's Gifts and Jewelers, retiring in 1996. She enjoyed putting together puzzles, watching Wheel of Fortune and being with her family. She is survived by granddaughter Valerie (John) Hopp, grandson Matt Vanderlip and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Glendyn and her daughter, Karen Vanderlip. The family would like to thank the staff and care takers at Fountain West Health Center in West Des Moines and Mercy Hospice for taking great care of Laura.
