Larry Meyer

Larry Dean Meyer, 80, of Blairsburg passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 am Monday, September 21, 2026 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 am at the Alden Cemetery in Alden.

Larry was born on October 16,1945 at the Hampton Hospital to Lawrence and Iola (Radabaugh) Meyer of Latimer, Iowa. He was raised on the family farm along with his siblings: Darrell, Marlys and Gary. The family raised cattle and chickens. Larry showed cattle at the Franklin County fair for many years. He graduated from Cal school in 1964 and then joined the United States Army National Guard. He worked several jobs before settling down in Blairsburg where he worked at the Blairsburg elevator for 10 years. Larry farmed for 45 years, retiring in 2015. He was an avid Hawkeye and Minnesota Viking fan. Larry also collected John Deere toy tractors but camping with friends and going to Vegas were something he enjoyed most.

Larry is survived by his brothers, Darrell (Nancy) Meyer and Gary (Joyce) Meyer all of Alden; one niece; seven nephews; 20 great nieces and nephews as well as several cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by both his parents, Lawrence and Iola Meyer and sister, Marlys Rodamaker.
