Larita Manship, 83, of Webster City, died Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Van Diest Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2021, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Webster City, with Father Stephen Meyer and Deacon Dan Hurt officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with the services.
Larita Mae Yates, daughter of James Eldrige and Eunice Passwaters Yates, was born February 2, 1938, at Blairsburg. The family had resided in Williams, Dows, and moved to Webster City in 1948. She graduated from Lincoln High in Webster City in 1955. On October 14, 1984, Rita was united in marriage to John R. Manship in Webster City. She worked for Northwestern Bell and U.S. West Telephone Co. for 34 yrs.
She is survived by sister, Janet Yates; brother, Andy Yates, all of Webster City; sisters-in-law, Ardys Yates, Sandy Yates, Verona Yates; 14 nieces and nephews; many great nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Larita was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; brothers, James, John, Wendell, Dean, Larry (Joe); sisters, Evelyn Marie (in infancy), Maxine Fitchhorn, Kathy Yates; brothers-in-law, Russell Fitchhorn, sister-in-law, Charlene Yates.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Larita’s name to St. Thomas Catholic Church or School.
