Keith Norman Hopkins, son of Clyde and Bernice (Johnson) Hopkins, was born September 27,1925 near Clearwater, Nebraska. He received his education at a country schoolhouse and Clearwater High School. In December 1943, Keith enlisted in the U.S. Army and was trained as a medic, serving in Britain, France and Germany. While on extended duty in Paris after the end of World War II, he met Elda Baroni, and they married on December 14, 1946, in Argenteuil, France. They returned to the U.S. in 1947. Keith and Elda lived in Colorado, California and Nebraska before moving to Iowa in 1954. In 1958, the family settled near Webster City, where Keith continued his farming operation. Keith enjoyed farming, especially raising cattle, and after retirement he and Elda traveled extensively until her death in 2010. He enjoyed the company of his family and friends and was a longtime member of a nondenominational Christian fellowship.
