Kay Bergeson, 75, Webster City, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Crestview Nursing and Rehab surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church, Webster City with burial to follow at Saratoga Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening, March 27, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at Foster Funeral & Cremation Center in Webster City. Kay Woodard was born April 20, 1941, the daughter of Lloyd and Gladys Woodard of Webster City. She was the second born of four children. Kay was raised in Webster City, graduating from Webster City High School in 1960. Kay had a deep love and devotion to her Lord and Savior, going on to study at Omaha Baptist Bible College in Omaha, NE. Kay also later continued her education, graduating from the secretarial program at ICCC, Fort Dodge. On December 30th, 1967, she married James L. Bergeson, Sr. at Evangelical United Brethren Church in Webster City. To this union, three children were born, James Jr., David and Teresa. Kay had a passion for helping people in need and especially loved children. She was employed as the secretary at Elm Park Elementary School and also at YOUR, Inc. She was an amazing cook, working at Southfield Care Center in the kitchen, as well as the County Home in WC, which later became Country Meadows. She was a lifelong member of Calvary Baptist Church and enjoyed teaching Bible school and the Sunday evening youth groups for years. Kay enjoyed reading, playing cards, her cats and spending time with family, especially her grandkids. Left to treasure her memory are her husband, Jim; children, James Jr. (fiancé Cathy Dayton), David (Shelly), and Teresa (fiancé Shayne McFarland); brother Ron Woodard (Carolee), all of Webster City; grandchildren John, Luke, Tara, and Amanda; step grandchildren Zac & Meghan Sjoberg; great grandkids, Alexander, Grace, and Isaac; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Charles in infancy, twin brother, Keith Woodard; and grandson Matthew Bergeson. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
