Joan Windschitl, 72, of Webster City died Friday, May 19, 2023 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, followed by burial in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.
Joan Elizabeth Hutson, daughter of Dr. Homer F. and Alice M. (Meyer) Hutson, was born May 17, 1951 in Webster City. She graduated from Webster City High School and Iowa Central Community College. Joan was united in marriage to Gene Sylvester Windschitl on February 15, 1975 in Webster City. She was employed with the City of Webster City as dispatcher with the police department. Joan loved her job and all the people she worked with, and she enjoyed time spent with her dogs Oreo and Dexter.
She is survived by her son, Noah (Amy) Windschitl of Broomfield, CO; daughter-in-law, Tanya Windschitl of Papillion, NE; grandchildren, Caleb Windschitl, Carson Windschitl, Brody Windschitl, Cassie Barrett, Jay Michael, Joe Michael; great-grandsons, Aaron Kleba, Jonathan Michael and several nieces and nephews.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; her son, Aaron Windschitl; her parents, Dr. Homer and Alice Hutson; and her dog, Nick.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed her pets, traveling, shopping and playing games.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left in Joan’s memory to The Hamilton County Peace Officers Association, AHeinz 57 Pet Rescue & Transport of De Soto or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
