James Owen Timm, 71, of Blairsburg, IA, died Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at his home. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Rev. Scott Boone presiding. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday followed by a rosary and scripture service beginning at 6:45 p.m. There will also be a brief visitation period at 8:30 a.m. on Friday morning at the church prior to the funeral. James Owen Timm, son of Walter and Clara McPhillips Timm, was born May 30, 1938 in Webster City. He graduated from Blairsburg High School in 1956. On May 31, 1958, he married his high school sweetheart, Ramona Lea Riley, in Webster City. The couple resided in Webster City where he worked for Western Electric until 1969. At that time, they purchased a farm west of Blairsburg which they farmed until retirement in 2001. Jim and Ramona also had a home in Mesa, Arizona, where they wintered for 26 years. Jim had many hobbies throughout his life including square dancing, woodworking and traveling the back roads. He never missed an opportunity to take part in or to start a political debate. He also loved vintage cars and spent many hours working on and restoring them. Jim is survived by many loving family members: his wife, Ramona; daughters and sons-in-law, Dottie and Bob Tabor of Richardson, TX; Melanie and Dan Fulton of Lincoln, NE; Cathy and Maury White of Roland, IA; son, Todd Timm of Lincoln, NE; 6 grandchildren, Gabriel Fulton, Krystle Wavra, Whitney Wagner, Dirk Timm, Dillon Timm and Hallie Tabor; 2 step-grandchildren, BreAnn and Brendelyn White; 2 great-grandchildren, Beau and Cruz Wavra; brothers and sisters-in-law, Emmett and Marilyn Timm, Melvin and Ellen Timm, all of Webster City; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Bill Lowry of Aurora, IL; and several nieces and nephews. Those preceding Jim in death are his parents; granddaughter, Sydney Tabor and brothers, John and Roland Timm. He was a third generation member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
