Helen Bessie Rutledge, daughter of Thomas and Mabel Hanlin Rutledge, was born September 2, 1913 at Blairsburg. She received her education in the Blairsburg Public School, graduating in 1931. She was employed at the Blairsburg Post Office, later being appointed Postmaster. On August 26, 1943, she married George Elbert Myers at Webster City. They made their home at Webster City where she was employed at the Post Office. On January 22, 1946 a son was born, Thomas Tritt Myers. In April of 1946, they moved to the family farm northeast of Webster City in the Mulberry Center area. They retired in 1975 and continued to reside on their farm. Mr. Myers died December 13, 1990. She later moved to Webster City. In April of 2008, she moved to Southfield. Mrs. Myers is survived by a son, Thomas T. Myers of Redondo Beach, CA; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Virginia Hill of Iowa Falls; Mildred Myers, Dorothy and Oliver Myers, all of Webster City; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Donald, Marion and Delvin Rutledge; sisters, Lois Steinbauer; Doris Lambert and Jeanette Rutledge. She was a member of the First Congregational - U.C.C., Daughters of the American Revolution, Chapter N.R. of P.E.O., charter member of the Heritage Hunters and the Mulberry Club. She enjoyed traveling especially several trips to Europe. She also enjoyed reading, antiques and doing crossword puzzles.
