Harlan Lundquist, 77, of Fort Dodge formerly of Stanhope and Webster City, died Sunday, July 28, 2024 at Friendship Haven – Journeys in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm Friday, August 2, 2024 at the Stanhope Community Building, 600 Main Street, Stanhope. Burial will be at 3:00 pm prior to the visitation at South Marion Cemetery, 3837 Fenton Ave, Stratford. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with the services.
Harlan Russell Lundquist, son of Eldred and Harriet (Peterson) Lundquist, was born January 4, 1947 in Hamilton County. He attended Stanhope school and graduated from South Hamilton in 1965. After high school he attended Iowa State University majoring in agriculture. In June 1967, Harlan was united in marriage to Sally Broom in Jewell. To this union, two boys were born Andy and Scott. The couple later divorced. Harlan was united in marriage on October 31, 1988 to Deborah Carlson in Las Vegas. He spent many hours on the road delivering Winnebago campers around the United States and farmed for 40 + years south of Stanhope and Stratford. Harlan was a supervisor for Uncle B’s Bakery in Ellsworth for 8 years and in 2000 he went to work at the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility as a building service coordinator for 10 years.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Debbie; sons, Andy (Wendy) Lundquist of Stanhope, Scott (Geri McMahon) Lundquist of Madrid; grandchildren, Jordan (Logan) Rexroat, Taylor (Matt) Deimerly, Madisen Lundquist, Drew (Gizzy) Lundquist, Masen Lundquist, Maia Lundquist; step-grandchildren, Samantha McMahon and Brady McMahon and great-grandchildren, Zaelie, Klay, Eden, Spencer, Saige.
Harlan is preceded in death by his parents; twin brothers in infancy, Roger and Robert Lundquist and sister, Elizabeth Lundquist.
He loved to watch ISU football and NASCAR races, especially Dale Ernhardt Jr. He had a goal to attend as many races as he could. His most memorable experience was driving 123 mph around Daytona. Harlans life existed around traveling – bank trips, river cruises and road trips. Harlan and Debbie wintered for 15 years in Melbourne, FL and enjoyed the many different restaurants they had the pleasure of eating at. His Swedish heritage was very important – UFF DA. Always remember to Live-Laugh-Love.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family for a bench in Harlan’s honor to be placed at Stanhope.
