Geraldine Fortune

Geraldine Fortune, 82, of Woolstock died Monday, October 19, 2026 at Humboldt County Memorial Hospital with her loving family by her side. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, November 5, 2026 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Geraldine Fortune, daughter of Thurlow and Freda (Warbington) Parker, was born April 9, 1944 in Antioch, California. She attended school in Woolstock and Eagle Grove. Later, furthering her education at Iowa Central Community College. In 1967, Gerri was united in marriage to Ronald C. Fortune Sr. To this union two sons were born, Andrew and Ronny. The couple later divorced in 1987. She had worked for Frigidaire, Iowa Workforce, Farm Journal and the US Postal Service. Due to fast-progressing dementia six months ago, Geri moved to live with her son and family in Humboldt.

Gerri enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and gardening, and she loved keeping in touch with others by writing letters. She also had an adventurous side and enjoyed riding motorcycles, horseback riding, and camping.

Gerri had a kind and loving soul. Before she had to move, one of her favorite pastimes was sitting outside on her picnic table with her beloved dog, Diamond, by her side, waving to the semi-truck drivers and farmers as they made their way to the Co-op. It was one of the simple pleasures that brought her joy and reflected her warm heart and the kindness she shared with everyone around her.

She is survived by her sons, Andrew (Laura) Fortune of Webster City and Ronny (Jennifer) Fortune of Humboldt; grandchildren, Jessica Trunkhill, Jaime Trunkhill, Joseph Fortune, Clay Fortune, Kailee Quinteros and great-grandchildren, McKinzie, Colt and Santi.

Gerri was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Margie E. Nichols and brother, Harry Parker.
