George T. Patrou, 82, of Webster City, died Thursday, March 5, 2009 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center with Father Basil W. Hickman officiating. Visitation will be at 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday evening and prior to the service on Tuesday at Fosters. George Theodore Patrou, son of Theodore and Elpis Patrou, was born on October 16, 1926 in Webster City, Iowa. He attended school and graduated from Webster City High School. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After being discharged from the Navy after the war, he returned to Webster City and entered the food and beverage business, and worked with the Dermand family in the restaurant business. He then entered the real estate business with Dick Obe at Webster City Realty and later with Leonard Anderson at Anderson Farm Realty, retiring in 2000. George was a member of the Wright and Hamilton County Board of Realtors, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, AHEPA Lodge of Des Moines, Elk and Moose Lodges of Webster City, and a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of Des Moines. George loved to play golf and enjoyed all sporting activities. He is survived by brother John of Freeport, IL; sister Toni Parrish of Warrenville, IL; sister Mary Kent of Clarksville, IA; and many cousins, nieces and nephews in the United States and Greece. In lieu of flowers, George requested memorials be made to Hamilton County Hospice or the Hamilton County Hospital Building Fund.
