George N. Eilers, 76, of Webster City, died Sunday, December 5, 2010 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Rev. Travis Schmidt officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #191 of Webster City. A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center and after 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at the church. George Nicholas Eilers son of William and Alma Kampman Eilers was born on February 22, 1934 in Parkersburg, Iowa. He graduated from Shellrock High School in 1952. George attended Gates Business College in Waterloo, Iowa. He served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1957 stationed in Kamakura, Japan. On January 26, 1963 he married Betty Boderman at Spring Fountain Church in Sumner, Iowa. The couple resided in Bethany, MO. where he worked for Calhoun Manufacturing. They moved to Webster City in 1971, where he worked for Modern Farms Systems and then for Van Diest Supply Company until his retirement. Survivors include his wife, Betty of Webster City; children, Pam (Jim) Hildebrand of Mantorville, MN; Mike Eilers of Phoenix, AZ; Rita (Jerry) Martin of Spokane Valley, WA; Renee (James) Ubben of Webster City; Eric (Jamie) Eilers of Ames; 7 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren; 1 step great granddaughter; sisters, Gesina Jungling of Allison; Alma Bettenga of Clarksville; Grace Arends of Janesville; Margareta March of Oelwein; Adeline Johnson of Allison; and his brother, Edward Eilers of Clarksville. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Chris and William Eilers. George enjoyed golfing, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where he served on several boards. He was also a member of the Briggs Woods Golf Course. For the past 6 years, George enjoyed wintering in Yuma, AZ.
