Gary Loder, 75, of Webster City, died Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center with Pastor Chad Halbach officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Gary Loder was born on April 2, 1941 in Webster City, the son of Ralph and Margaret Evans Loder. He graduated from Webster City Schools. He married the love of his life, Barbara Elaine Austin on April 8, 1961. He worked at East Side Grocery, McGilligan's Restaurant and Henson Drywall among others. For over 50 years he was the owner and operator of Loder Drywall. Gary is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara of Webster City; sons, Scott (Cindy) Loder of Cedar Falls, Steve (Natalie) Loder of Ames, Kevin Loder of Waterloo, Kyle Loder of Stanhope; grandchildren, Ashley (Phil Tieu) Loder of West Des Moines, Kayla (Aaron) Moore of Waverly, Zachary Loder of Ames, Brianna Loder of Ames, Alexis Loder of Waterloo; great-grandson, Jaxon Moore of Waverly; brothers, Ron (Elaine) Loder of Phoenix, AZ, Robert Loder of Fort Dodge; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Fran) Austin of Iowa City, Don (Cathy) Austin of Webster City, Roger (Susan) Austin of Minnesota; many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family; and his dog, Tuffy. He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Nicole Loder; parents-in-law, Howard and Fern Austin; sister-in-law, Connie Loder. Gary was a past member of the Church of Christ. He was a proud life-long resident of Webster City. Gary's home away from home was the Boone Valley Isaac Walton site. He spent 35 years as an instructor for Hunter's Safety. He enjoyed trapshooting and spending time out at the Isaac Walton with his friends, having coffee or playing cribbage, making chili or frying fish and having squirrel feeds. He taught all of his sons and grandchildren and many others to respect guns and a love for wildlife. Gary will be remembered for his great smile.
