Florence Maxine Smith, daughter of Milton and Harriet Studley Smith was born on September 23, 1919 in Council Bluffs. She received her education and graduated from Webster City Lincoln High School in 1936. She attended Webster City Junior College, graduating with her business degree in 1938. Following her education, she taught rural school for almost 3 years. On February 12, 1942, She married Robert James Coulter. The couple resided in Webster City. Mr. Coulter died on October 28, 1963. In the 1960's, she worked as a proof reader for the Daily Freeman Journal. On February 27, 1967, she married Elwin LeRoy Sweazey. The couple continued to reside in Webster City. Mr. Sweazey died on January 19, 1976. Florence worked for many years as a food server at Shady Oaks until her retirement. She moved to Winterset in 2003. Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Brad and Wendy Coulter of Winterset; Robert James Coulter Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Tom Armour of Chipetta, CO; and half sister, Millie (Bob) Petroff of Minneapolis, MN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Jon Coulter and sister, Ruth Thompson. While living in Webster City, she attended the Church of the Nazarene. Her memberships included V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Moose Family Center, where she held positions as senior regent and chaplin.
