Emmett W. Clay, 79, of Duncombe, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at the Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Graveside Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at the Graceland Cemetery in Webster City with Dennis Thompson officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral & Cremation Center in Webster City. Emmett William Clay son of Gale and Catherine Flyn Clay was born September 9, 1928 in Floyd County, Iowa. He attended Charles City Schools and graduated from Floyd High School in 1946. He was also a graduate of the Diesel Engineering Institute in Chicago, IL. On August 30, 1948 he married Betty Trask in Floyd, Iowa. The couple resided in the Charles City and Mason City area. Emmett worked as an auto mechanic and farmed for 10 years prior to moving to Duncombe in 1966. He was employed as a welder for Standard Engineering and Bush Hog Company. Following his retirement, he worked part time maintenance for Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City. In addition to his wife Betty, he is survived by his sons, Dennis Clay of Old Town, Idaho, Richard Clay of Duncombe; four grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. Emmett was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cynthia Clay Wilson; 1 great grandson; two sisters and three brothers.
