Emily Ford

Emily Ford, 55, of Iowa Falls, died Monday, December 28, 2009 at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital at Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a. m. Saturday at the Harvest Baptist Church at Fort Dodge, with Pastor Marvin Smith, officiating. Burial will be in the Rush Lake Cemetery near Curlew, Iowa. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Emily Esther Matthiesen, daughter of Homer and Dorothy Hildreth Matthiesen, was born September 22, 1954 at Emmetsburg. She received her education in the Sentral Community School at Fenton, graduating in 1973. She studied music at Bethel College at St. Paul, MN. On May 29, 2007, she married Thomas Ford at Iowa Falls. They resided at Iowa Falls. She had been a missionary in Zaire, Africa, an administrator in Minnesota at the Roseville Covenant Church, lived at New Brighton, MN, resided at Indianola (working for the Citi Group in Des Moines) and was a homemaker while living at Iowa Falls Emily is survived by her husband, Tom; daughter, Kristi Duggan of Watson, MN; son, Jonathan Hartfiel of Iowa Falls; step-children, Tracy Schaffer of Ames; Susan Obregon of Fort Dodge; Gerald Ford of Iowa Falls; 8 step-grandchildren; mother, Dorothy Matthiesen of Indianola; brothers, Don Matthiesen of Oak Park, IL; David Matthiesen of Apache Junction, AZ; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father. Emily was a member of the Harvest Baptist Church at Fort Dodge.
