Elmer Lanken, 71, of Webster City, died Saturday, March 21, 2009 at the Southfield Wellness Community. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m Tuesday at Faith United Methodist Church with Rev. Linda Bibb officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center and at the church after 11:00 a.m. Tuesday. Elmer Henry Lanken, son of Christian and Anne Arps Lanken was born June 1, 1937 in Webster City. He received his education from Webster City Schools graduating in 1956. On May 29, 1971, he married Ida Harn at Greeley, Iowa. The couple resided in Webster City. He worked for Electrolux for 37 years until he retired in 2002. He is survived by his wife Ida, sons and daughter-in-law, Joe and Julie Lanken of Kamrar; Jason Lanken of Garner; grandchildren, Jory, Jaric, J.J., Jaeden all of Kamrar; brother-in-law, Jens Nelson of Ft. Dodge; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by both his parents, sister, Elsie Nelson; brothers, Walter and Ernest Lanken. Elmer was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, River Valley Rock Club, U.A.W. 442 and Congregate Meals.
