Donald Maurice Richardson celebrated his ninetieth (90th) birthday in December and he quietly passed away on Monday, March 3rd, 2025. Don was comforted by family and loved ones during his last two weeks while having compassionate end of life care at the Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City, Iowa.
Don was born on December 9th, 1934, in Lake City, Iowa. Don's parents were Merle Richardson and Blanche Branstner Richardson. He was the oldest child with three (3) siblings; Sharon Dunagan, David Richardson, and Suzie Mahannah. He has been preceded in death by both parents, his brother, David, his sister, Suzie, and two (2) adult children; Donald Richarson, Jr. and Kimberly Simpson.
Wife Joanne, and Don, will have a forty (40) year marriage anniversary this May 2025. All those who shared time with Don know that he was a committed and loving family man; he was a cherished husband, a caring father, and a supportive older brother. He deeply loved his grandkids and his in-laws. Don made countless friends during his lifetime while he was a self-made business entrepreneur and craftsman. Don's passion in life was golf. He was blessed with good fortune to have a mastery of the game, and he experienced endless joy sharing the game with others across all his years, in Florida during the winter, and especially his fondness for Iowa golf courses. Don always had stories to tell, and he shared his life experiences with everyone he knew. Mostly, he told golf stories, which may have included a recollection of his six (6) hole in ones and two (2) double eagles.
Don is survived by his wife, Joanne Richardson, son, Patrick Butler (Anke Bellinger); sister, Sharon Dunagan, nieces Michelle (Al) Steil and Rhonda (Todd) Reese, nephew Greg (Rita) Mahanna. He is survived also by grandchildren; Amber (Kris) Loomer, Michael Carpenter, Megan Smith, Celie Butler, Zoe Butler, and Alexander Bellinger. Great grandchildren include Mason, Hunter and Dakota Smith, Destinee Carpenter, and Addyson and Avery Loomer.
