Dolores Deimel, daughter of John “August” and Mary Dorothy (Consier) Deimel, was born October 13, 1934 on the family farm in Calhoun County. She graduated from Manson High School. Following graduation, Dee moved to Des Moines where she met and married Mike Fitzgibbon. To this union three daughters were born. The couple divorced in 1961. Dee and her young girls moved to Webster City, where she began her 34-year career with the Iowa Department of Human Services. Dee’s hard work and independence allowed her to enjoy early retirement and fulfill her dream of traveling the world, visiting 6 of the 7 continents.
Dee loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was a 25-year Hawkeye football season ticket holder and traveled to many away games as well. She loved trips to bowl games with her daughters. Camping with family was one of her favorite things to do. Dee loved sports and spent many hours cheering on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and canning and loved to share her knowledge of these with her family. Dee was an avid bowler and a member of the Webster City Women’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Corrie (Gary) Baker of Madrid, Vicki (Jim) Olson of Webster City, Pam (Jan Eich) Fitzgibbon of Webster City; grandchildren, Jason (Emily) Lyons, Eric (Natalie) Lyons, Dustin Baker, Mindy (Jeremy) Willson, Matthew (Sarah) Olson, Dan Hawken, Chris Hawken, Tina (Kevin) Lawrence, Shawnna (Jacob) Eganhouse; 16 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; brothers, Gary Deimel of Lake City, Wilbur (Charlotte) Deimel of Bakersfield, CA; sister-in-law, Bess Deimel of Manson and many nieces and nephews. Dee also considered the staff of Windsor Manor as extended family and was very grateful for their love and support in her later years.
Dee is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Dale Deimel, Vernon Deimel, Edgar Deimel, Raymond Deimel; sisters, Elsie Fairfax, Vera Holkan, Helen Deimel and twin sister, Doris Deimel in infancy.
