Darel R. Burnett, 66, of Webster City, died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House in Fort Dodge. Memorial services will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 12 at the Foster Chapel, with Rev. Russ Burnett officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post # 191. Darel Rae Burnett, son of Donald and Armelia Wells Burnett, was born November 13, 1945 at Webster City. He received his education in the Webster City school system, graduating in 1964. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Mediterranean on a fueling tanker. He worked at Electrolux for 30 years. He also worked at Pester Derby gas station and Nissen Meats, both at Webster City. He retired in November of 2007. Darel is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, Scott (Nancy Beightol) Burnett of Duncombe; Randy Burnett of Webster City; daughter, Muriel Burnett of Dayton; step-son, Craig Rullestad of Boone; grandchildren, Alexis Byrne and Christopher Beightol; step-grandchildren, Kyle and Brandon Cunningham; brother-in-law, Marvin Hatcher of Kenosha, WI and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jeri Lue Hatcher and a step-grandson, Lawrence Cunningham. Darel was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, a charter member of the W.C. Cruisers, United Auto Workers Local # 442 and a volunteer fireman for the Webster City Fire Department for many years.
