Dan McFarland, 51, of Webster City died Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at MercyOne in Des Moines following injuries sustained from a UTV accident. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at the funeral home. A private family interment of the cremains will be held at Graceland Cemetery in the spring.
Charles Daniel McFarland, son of Charles “Chuck” and Linda (Weber) McFarland, was born February 27, 1972 in Webster City. He graduated from Webster City High School in 1990 and Iowa Lakes Community College in 2013. On July 31, 1993, Dan was united in marriage to Christine Beth Scott in Webster City. The couple resided in Webster City where Dan worked many years at Electrolux until their closure. He was currently employed with the City of Webster City as a grounds technician.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Christine; children, Josh (Megan) McFarland of Webster City, Jenna (Jacobey) Anderson of Britt, Jordan (Tayviah) McFarland of Webster City; grandchildren, Scarlett and Elliott, along with a soon to be new arrival in May; mother, Linda (Don Tuttle) McFarland of Webster City; sisters, Julie (Mark) Foster of Sioux City, Kathy (Randy) Smith of Duncombe, Shelly (Dave) Bergeson of Webster City; mother-in-law, Vona Scott of Webster City; father-in-law, Earl “Scotty” (Kennetta) Scott of Davenport; brother-in-law, Jeff (Kim) Scott of Ellsworth; sister-in-law, Deena (Jeremy) Scott of Davenport and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Dan was preceded in death by his father, Charles “Chuck” McFarland and brother-in-law, Kenny Scott.
He was a member of the Boone Valley OHV Club. Dan was always out tinkering in the shop on everything from chicken pluckers to tractors, loved his hobby farm and honey bees, giving the grandkids rides on all the farm toys, was a big Dallas Cowboys and Cyclones fan, enjoyed racing, fishing, and hunting. He was always quick with a joke and loved making people laugh. What Dan treasured the most was time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
