Cynthia LaMar Brooks, daughter of Riley and Aurora Hutson Brooks, was born December 23, 1947 at Webster City. She received her education in the Webster City school system, graduating in 1966. She also received an A.A. degree from Parsons, Kansas Community College. On June 17, 1967, she married Larry Riley at the First Baptist Church at Webster City. They were later divorced. She had been employed at Woolworth's and Gambles, both in Webster City; United Cooperative of the Madrid area; United Cooperative at Algona. Cynthia is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Lanett and Scott Bair of Badger; Denise Fortune and Cory Brown of Webster City; Veronica and Daniel Hurt of Blairsburg; son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Jamie Riley of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Seth and Tyler Van Vickle; Madison, Caitlin, Nicole and Jacob Bair; Joseph, Clay and Kailee Fortune; Alexis Brown; Samantha and Alexander Hurt; Gage, Gavin and Grant Riley; sister and brother-in-law, Ranee and Stuart Greenfield of Ellsworth; a niece and a nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Keria Marie Brooks. Cynthia was a member of the First Baptist Church, were she also taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir; she was a member of the bell ringers, the Sweet Adelines, was a translator for sign language, assisted with the puppet ministry while living at Algona,wrote poetry and enjoyed meeting with the Red Hat Ladies.
