Michael "Chubby" Smith, 59, of Webster City, died Saturday, June 18, 2016 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Father Stephen Meyer officiating. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Michael Rea Smith was born July 13, 1956 in Boone, the son of Billy D. and Mary Helen Rea Smith. He was a 1975 graduate of Webster City High School. He married Lanette Kaye Lyons on November 28, 1992 in Webster City. Chubby had been employed in the maintenance department at the Webster City Community Schools for the last 18 years. Chubby is survived by his wife, Lanette of Webster City; daughter, Jennifer (Nate Hay) Smith of Webster City; brothers, Curt (Sharon) Smith of Webster City, Billy Todd Smith of Stratford; sister, Luanne (Tom) Tanner of Webster City; many nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Sheryll Lyons of Webster City; brother-in-law, Rick Lyons of Ankeny. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, John Lyons. Chubby was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, the Iowa Rodeo Cowboy Association (IRCA) and the United States Team Roping Championships (USTRC).
