Betty Evans Profile Photo
Betty Jean (LaMar) Evans, of Blairsburg, peacefully passed from this life to life eternal at Hubbard Care Center on August 3, 2016 surrounded by family. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, at Foster Funeral Home in Webster City. A mass celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August, 12th at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Webster City, followed by lunch. Betty was born September 14, 1930 and raised on the family farm in rural Albia, Iowa. She graduated from Albia High School and married Gerald L. Evans of Webster City, Iowa on September 22, 1949. Together they farmed and raised 13 children. Betty was active in her church, St. Thomas Aquinas in Webster City, and in local politics. She was an avid reader and volunteered many hours promoting rural education. She loved to dance and garden, as evidenced by her one-person Blairsburg Beautification projects of bright orange marigolds planted around many of the city's power poles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; and sons, Gary "G.B." and Jim. Surviving Betty are her sister, Colleen Carlson; children and (spouses): Connie Evans, Bernie (Kristi) Evans, Margie Evans, Ron (Carole) Evans, Nina (Allen) Baumgartner, Richard (Deanna) Evans, Robert (Donna) Evans, Dave (Cindy) Evans, Wilma Evans, Ken (Rhonda) Evans, Tim (Heidi) Evans, Carl (Rose) Evans, and Ada Colleen (Keith) Jeno; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. During the last years of her life, she was blessed to have her daughter Wilma and remarkable, loving caregivers at the Hubbard Care Center to take care of her. There are no words of gratitude adequate to express how their caregiving is appreciated. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Webster City.
