Belva Strain, 94, of Waterloo died Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Unity Point-Allen Hospital in Waterloo. Private family graveside services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Webster City. Foster Funeral and Cremation is entrusted with caring for Belva and her family.
Belva Marie Bateman, daughter of Leigh and Nola (Dale) Bateman, was born July 10, 1930 in Medford, Oregon. She graduated from Lincoln high school in Webster City. On September 29, 1949, Belva was united in marriage to Richard Joseph Strain in Webster City. She was a teacher associate for the Waterloo Public Schools for over 20 years.
She is survived by her children, Jennifer Wilson of Ames, Jeffery Strain of Des Moines, Annette (Gary) Haas of Des Moines, Linda (Gordon) Sankey of Cedar Falls and Andrew (Amparo) Strain of Ooltewah, TN; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sister, Linda Rosalez of Webster City and many loved nieces and nephews.
Belva was preceded in death by her husband, Richard in 1987; her parents; sisters, Verlaine Salstrom, Patricia Dahlhauser; brothers-in-law, William Salstrom, Carol Dahlhauser, Mike Rosalez; nephew, Kris Dean Dahlhauser and great-nephew, Keenen Hilsabeck.
She enjoyed visiting the casino, reading, playing Bridge with her friends and was a strong Democrat.
