Barbara Sernel

Barbara A. Sernel, RN, 84, of Webster City, IA, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017. She was a registered nurse for over 50 years. As a teenager she worked as a nurse's aide at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Chicago. Later she went on to graduate from Norwegian American Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago. Barbara retired at 75 from UnityPoint Health-Trinity Medical Center in Ft. Dodge, IA. Beloved daughter of the late John and the late Anna Sernel (nee Bonello), cherished sister of Rosemarie (the late James) LaRue; JoAnne (the late William) Mathis; and John Sernel, Jr.; loving aunt of Elizabeth Pincolini (Stephen), Diane LaRue , William Mathis, Jr. and many great nieces and nephews; dear niece, cousin and friend of many, especially the Christeson family for their love and support.
