Arlene Van Langen, 90, of Webster City, went home to be with the Lord on December 20, 2010. She had been hospitalized and had returned to her residence at Windsor Manor in Webster City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the Community Church in Kamrar with Rev. Peter Mueller officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday December 29 at the Community Church in Kamrar. Arrangements were made with the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Frances Arlene Greenfield, daughter of William and Lena Hassebrock Greenfield, was born November 24, 1920 on a farm near Kamrar. She received her education at the Liberty Center rural school and Kamrar high school. On June 1, 1938, she married Melvin Lloyd Van Langen in the Little Brown Church at Nashua. The couple farmed southeast of Kamrar for 40 years. They retired in 1979 and moved to Webster City. She was a lifelong seamstress and quilter. She had received many awards for her quilts. Arlene had resided at Windsor Manor since June of 2010. Arlene is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Dale and Margaret Van Langen of Ogden; Orin and Susan Van Langen of Fort Worth, TX; Michael and Patricia Van Langen of Georgetown,KY and daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Steve Severe of Webster City; nine grandchildren; Jill (Ron) Lorenz of Norwalk, Nick (Patty) Van Langen of New Jersey, Dan (Carla) Van Langen of Adel, David Van Langen of Illinois, Angie (Gary) Lauritzen of Illinois, DeAnne (Raleigh) Harris of Georgia, Melissa (Tom) Stamper of Kentucky, Ryan (Lisa) Severe of Georgia, Emily Van Langen of Texas; 18 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald Greenfield of Kamrar; Gary and Carol Greenfield of Fort Collins, CO; Georgina Greenfield of Webster City; sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Don Kerby of Des Moines; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a grandson, Justin Severe; a brother, W. Harold Greenfield and a sister-in-law, Leona Greenfield. She was a member of the Community Church at Kamrar. Memorials may be given to the Community Church.
