Arden Schlitter
December 31, 1969 — September 19, 2023
Arden Schlitter, 85, of Webster City died Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2023 at the First Congregational UCC. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with serving the family.
Arden Linus Schlitter, son of Floyd and Bernice (Rose) Schlitter, was born April 19, 1938 on the family farm in Allamakee County. He graduated from Monona High School in 1956. Arden served in the Army National Guard in Wisconsin and Iowa. He was united in marriage to Dalene Layne Hillyer on November 25, 1976 in Cedar Rapids. For many years he farmed east of Webster City, worked for Modern Farm Systems, McMurray Hatchery and most recently was a bus driver for Webster City Community Schools.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dalene; children, Kim (Cindy) Schlitter of Cedar Rapids, Kara (Daniel) Hutton of Council Bluffs, Gjoa (David) King of Council Bluffs, Terry (Katie) Schlitter of Redfield, Heidi (Ron) Menard of Lakeville, MN; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Arden was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Kamryn Schlitter.
He was a member of the First Congregational UCC, American Legion Post #191, Noon Kiwanis, and the Birthday Club. Arden loved following his children and grandchildren’s activities.
