Alvine Madalik, 96, Webster City, died February 28 at her home. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 3, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Foster Funeral Home in Webster City, with Rev. Howard Hunt officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 5-7p.m. at the Foster Chapel. Burial will be at a later time. Alvine Madalik was born March 6, 1911 in Saaremaa, Estonia. She married Kalju Madalik on April 30, 1946, in Munster, Germany. The couple came to the United States in 1951 and resided in New York for one year before coming to Webster City. She worked several years for Hart Carter and the County Home before retiring in 1976. Alvine was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ of Webster City. Alvine loved to garden and taking care of her house plants. She took great pride in the garden behind her house next to the old Pamida Building. She devoted much of her time to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a very interesting lady and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Marju Lovelace of Webster City; son, Marmu Madalik of Grand Island, Neb.; two grandchildren, Danielle VanKooten and husband Les and Todd Lovelace and wife Michelle; five great grandchildren, Bryce Kauffman, Devyn and Cody VanKooten and Emily and Kaitlyn Lovelace. She was preceded in death by her parents Maert and Nari nee Karuauk; husband Kalju; son Mati Madalik; and great granddaughter Shawna Lovelace.
