Sue Naden, 72 of Webster City, died Friday, April 8, 2022 at St. Mary’s Hospital-Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. A Celebration of Life will be held 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2022 at Briggs Woods Convention Center. Susan Carol Naden, daughter of Harold and Eva (Ritter) Tracy, was born December 29, 1949 in Des Moines. She graduated from Webster City High School in 1968 and completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from University of Northern Iowa. On June 25, 1971 Sue was united in marriage to Russell Thomas Naden in Webster City. Sue was a long-time librarian at Kendall Young Library, substitute teacher and pre-school teacher, retiring in 2015.
She is survived by husband of 50 years, Russ of Webster City; daughters, Tracy (Eric) Hyde of Pelham, NY, Tricia (JJ) Grosser of Minneapolis, MN; four grandchildren, Leo and Collins Hyde, Conor and Luca Grosser; sister, Eloise Kennedy of Cave Creek, AZ; several nieces and nephews. Sue was preceded in death by her parents.
Sue was appreciated for making every holiday and birthday special for those she loved, and cherished every call, gift, and card that she received. The grandchildren will always remember her for Larita’s cookies, smarties and excitement to play for hours.
Sue attended Asbury United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Webster City Women’s Club. She enjoyed traveling, theater, genealogy and volunteering as a reading tutor for school kids, but most importantly she loved spending time with her beloved grandkids. Russ and Sue were able to travel across the United States and Europe, including Hawaii for their 40th Anniversary, and exploring Sue's ancestry in England, Ireland and Scotland.
In honor of Sue's memory, her family will create a reading corner in her name via an annual donation to Kendall Young Library to enhance the children department's collection of Wonderbooks and Vox Books. These books have an mp3 player attached to a printed book to enable kids to listen to the story while following along with the book.
