Obituary

Stella Alida Henrietta (Frey) Beermann of Webster City died July 27, 2020, at Southfield Wellness Community. Stella was born February 2, 1920, in Medford, Mass., to Pastor August O. and Estelle (Schuricht) Frey, and baptised February 22, 1920, at Zion Lutheran Church, Boston, Mass. She graduated in June 1938, from Malden (Mass.) High School.
On August 4, 1943, she married Richard H. Beermann, Motor Machinist’s Mate, 1st Class, U.S.N., at Zion Lutheran Church, Boston. In November 1945 the couple moved to Webster City, Richard’s hometown, to raise their family. Stella was active in Saint Paul Lutheran Church, where she was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and played in the handbell choir. She enjoyed reading, music, poetry, birds, and needlework, and was a faithful correspondent. In their retirement, Richard and Stella traveled throughout the lower forty-eight states and Canada, camping as they went. They also worked on the sewing of many quilts for Lutheran World Relief and in the production of devotional materials for Lutheran Braille Workers.
Stella was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, and her grandson Joshua Beermann. She is survived by her children, Lawrence and wife Susan Beermann, Sparks, NV; Ronald and wife Mary Beermann, Valparaiso, IN; Elaine Beermann, Webster City, IA; William Beermann, Chicago, IL; grandson Nicholas Beermann, Sparks, NV; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Lutheran World Relief, PO Box 17061, Baltimore, MD 21298-9832; or, Lutheran Braille Workers, 13471 California St., P.O. Box 5000, Yucaipa, CA 92399.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the family will hold a private graveside service, the Rev. Mark Eichler, Saint Paul Lutheran Church, officiating.
