Obituary for Shirley Voss

Shirley Ann (Parrish) Voss, 91, passed away April 21, 2024, at Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City.
Shirley, daughter of Roscoe and Madaline (Smalley) Parrish, was born February 9, 1933, in Woolstock, Iowa. In 1946, the family moved to Webster City, where she graduated from Lincoln High School in 1950. On March 15, 1952, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Voss in Webster City. The couple resided in Jewell most of their 71-year marriage. Shirley worked 17 years as the Elementary Secretary, and later learned American Sign Language for a different role at South Hamilton Community School District. She was a member of the Jewell United Church of Christ.
Shirley was known for her baking, enjoyed reading, coffee with friends in Jewell, crossword puzzles, working in her yard, and most of all, enjoyed time spent with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents; siblings Weldon Parrish, Ione Rehnblom, Margaret Parrish, Dorothy Bell, and Charlene Yates; two nephews and one great-nephew.
She is survived by her daughters, Vicki (David) Olthoff and Lori (Nick) Larson; grandchildren Staci, Katie, Bart, Erin, and Whitney; and great-grandchildren Adam, Adelyn, Isaac, Ethan, Landon, Edie, and Leighton. She is also survived by brother-in-law Andy Yates, and several nieces and nephews.
A private family burial will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery in Jewell at a later date. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements. Any memorials will be directed to Montgomery Memorial Library.
