Obituary

Roger Bruce Mourlam, son of Roger E. Mourlam Jr. and Mary Margaret (Hall) Mourlam, passed away April 7, 2019 in Carrollton, Texas after a courageous battle with cancer.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Suki (Han) Mourlam, his daughter, Tiffany and her fiancé Carlos Guerrero, his son, David and his wife Ranee (Samaniego) Mourlam, and Roger’s sister Mary Jeanne Mourlam of Webster City along with several aunts and many cousins. Preceding him in death were his parents, several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Roger Bruce was born June 21, 1947 in Webster City. He graduated from Webster City High School in 1965, and then earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and his Master’s degree in Business Communications from the University of Northern Iowa. After teaching in Illinois, he went to Officer’s Candidate School for the Navy. In his time in the Navy, he traveled extensively on the USS Columbus while working in communications. Through this time, he was an avid swimmer and scuba diver, and enjoyed experiencing different countries and cultures in the Mediterranean and across the world. After four years of service and attaining the rank of Lieutenant JG, he was honorably discharged. He then worked for Mutual of Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska, and Philip’s Petroleum in Bartlesville, Oklahoma where he met Suki Han. On March 19, 1990 Roger and Suki were married, and they were later blessed with two children, Tiffany and David. He was also an entrepreneur and started a software and business consulting company out of Dallas, Texas.
Roger was a loving father and husband who enjoyed playing golf with his friends and children. He enjoyed the simple things, like an evening spent outside with family and good food. Roger always had a kind ear to listen and gave wise advice; he was a man of faith with a tender and charitable heart, and he will be dearly missed.
