Obituary for Roberta Knutson

Roberta Knutson, 80, of Webster City died Saturday, January 1, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 7, 2022 at Asbury United Methodist Church in Webster City. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center in Webster City.
Roberta Eileen Knutson, daughter of Clinton and Mavis (Johnston) Ruby, was born April 13, 1941 in Fort Dodge. She graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1959. On July 24, 1959 she was united in marriage to Gary Gene Knutson in Fort Dodge. Roberta received her associates degree in nursing from Iowa Central Community College, her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Buena Vista University and her Master of Science degree in Health Care Administration from the University of Osteopathic Medicine. She spent her nursing career at Humboldt Memorial Hospital from 1973 – 1990 and Hamilton County Public Hospital from 1990 -2003.
She is survived by her husband, Gary of 62 years; children, Tammy (Mark) Bolie, Jill (Jim) Deimerly, Jeff (Joni) Knutson; grandchildren, Jaci (Dan) Griffin, Joel (Amanda) Bennett, Caitlyn Deimerly, Jon Bolie, Holly (Matthew) Brown; great-grandchildren, Natalie and Andrew Ketchum, Isla, Wells, and Whit Bennett; siblings, Dorothy (Lloyd) Custard, Vicky Ruby, Steve (Diane) Ruby, Mark (Cindy) Ruby, Denise Steburg-Rotell, Mary (Wayne) Long, LuAnn (Larry) Graham and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, Rita Ruby; stepmother, Donna Steburg, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Ione Knutson; brothers, Raymond and Bruce Hudson; sisters-in-law, Karene Egemo and Marlene Knutson.
She was a longtime active member of the United Methodist Church in the communities they lived. Roberta currently served on Van Diest Medical Center Board of Trustees, Foundation Board and the Auxillary. She spent many hours volunteering at the hospital.
In lieu of flowers, it was Roberta's desire that memorials be directed to Asbury Methodist Church in Webster City, Van Diest Medical Center Foundation, or Iowa Public Radio/TV.
