Obituary for Robert L Day
Robert Lyle (Bob) Day, 77, of Woolstock, died on Sunday, June 13, 2021, at Urbandale Health Center in Urbandale, IA. after a long fight with bladder cancer. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center, with a graveside service to follow at Graceland Cemetery. He will be laid to rest near his son, Brett, at Graceland Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at American Legion right after the graveside. Rest assured Bob is smiling down upon us, as he has been reunited with his best friend.... his son Brett.
Bob was born the youngest of seven children to Elva (Rothrock) and Willard Day on April 6, 1944, in Webster City. He graduated from Webster City High School in 1962. Bob was married to Marcia Ryan in 1964 and divorced in 1979. They had two children, Brett, and Bridgette. Bob worked in maintenance for Webster City Products for many years. He moved to California in the 1980s where he was employed as a groundkeeper at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Upon returning to Iowa, Bob moved to Woolstock.
Bob's interests were in collecting cars, car shows, and swap meets. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and dancing in his younger years. Bob was a good and loyal friend to all who knew him. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and his empathy for others. Bob was always willing to offer support, lend a helping hand, and just listen if that is what was needed.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Bridgette Stewart; son-in-law, Lonnie Stewart; and their daughter Samantha; (Brett's daughter) granddaughter, Ashley Day; and her children Lestat and Harlan; Bob's sisters, Shirley Ellison, Doris Bonnstetter, Sandy Van Winkle; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Brett and sisters, Arlene Davis, Lois Philbrook, and Donna Day.
