Obituary for Raymond I Montgomery

Raymond Montgomery, 92, of Webster City died Friday, February 11, 2022 at Van Diest Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
Raymond Ira Montgomery, son of Arthur and Emma (Mammen) Montgomery, was born February 10, 1930 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. He attended schools in Graettinger. On December 30, 1947 Ray was united in marriage to Lois Belle Strain in Graettinger. He joined the United States Air Force serving as a cryptographer. The couple resided in Webster City since 1960. He worked 30 years for Arrow Acme Corporation from a die castor to production supervisor. After retirement in 1992, Ray volunteered with RSVP, farmed, worked some construction, traveled with Lois and spoiled his grandchildren.
He is survived by son, Timothy (Maureen) Montgomery of Manchester; daughter, Laura (Andrew) Fortune of Webster City; grandchildren, Stephanie, Lisa, Kellie, David, Megan; seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Eleanor Murphy of Emmetsburg, Margaret Marazek of Eagle Grove and sister-in-law, Shirley Strain of Fort Dodge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois in 2020; siblings, Harv Montgomery, Elmer Montgomery, Florence Schmidt, Marie Tindall, Berniece Graff and Viola Melande.
He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
