Patti Dykstra, 71, of Williams died Sunday, December 10, 2023 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2024 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Williams. Visitation will follow the service from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the church. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with caring for Patti and her family.
Patricia Carol Desmarais, daughter of Dorius and Pauline (Yates) Desmarais, was born January 16, 1952 in Meriden, Connecticut. She was educated in Rome, New York. Patti was united in marriage to James Henrichs. To this union, two sons were born, Chris and Tim. The couple later divorced. On March 22, 1997, Patti married Bill Dykstra in Branson, Missouri. She worked many years for the Webster City Middle School as a paraeducator, and also as an assistant librarian for the Williams Library.
She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Bill of Williams; sons, Chris (fiancé Courtney Connolly) Henrichs of Williams, Tim (Brittany) Henrichs of Ankeny; grandchildren, Christian, Taylor, Tatum, Maddi, Macy, Iron, Navy, Kingston, Oaklin; brothers, Dorius (Karen) Desmarais Jr of Vero Beach, FL, Philip (Linda) Desmarais of Rome, NY, Michael (Terry) St. Louis of Elko, NV; sisters, Dawn (John) Desmarais Shephard of Margate, FL, Karen (Joe) Morin of Murphy, NC; step-brothers, David Simone of Coconut Creek, FL, William (Cheryl) Simone of Rome, NY; mother-in-law, Betty Dykstra of Willowbrook, IL; brothers-in-law, Jim (Lynn) Dykstra of Denver, Tom (Wendy) Dykstra of Burr Ridge, IL; sisters-in-law, Janet (Bruce) Wilson of Fort Dodge, Nancy (Dan) Mickelson of Duncombe, Mary Dykstra of Colonial Beach, VA and many nieces, and nephews.
Patti was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Wilfred “Bill” Dykstra and brother-in-law, Wayne Dykstra.
She was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Williams. Patti enjoyed reading, fishing, bird watching and adored all the children she worked.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Dykstra Family.
