Obituary for Michael C. Smith
Michael C. Smith, 76, of Norwalk died Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2023 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
Michael Claude Smith, son of Claude “Bill” and Clara Coddington Smith, was born December 6, 1946 in Webster City. He attended St. Thomas Catholic school and graduated from Webster City high school in 1965. He obtained his certification as dental technician from Milwaukee, WI. On May 16, 1970 Mike was united in marriage to Linda Lee Robinson at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Webster City. He worked for many years as a dental technician in Minnesota and Georgia before owning and operating Smith Dental Lab in Fort Dodge. Most recently working for Des Moines Dental until his retirement in 2019.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda of Norwalk; daughters, Carrie Waldeier of Norwalk, Jessica Smith of Urbandale; grandchildren, Tonya, Tanner and Parker; sister, Vicki (Randy) Nelson of Paynesville, MN; brother, Jeffery (Lynn) Smith of West Des Moines and his beloved 4-legged fur baby, Buddy.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Clara Smith; grandsons, Spencer and Trevor Waldeier.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines. Mike loved spending time with his wife traveling and was a devoted father and grandfather. He enjoyed watching sports and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinals.
