Obituary for Marcella Mourlam

Marcella Mourlam, 90, of Woolstock, died Saturday, May 29, 2021 at her home. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 4, 2021 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Father Stephen Meyer and Deacon Dan Hurt officiating. Burial will be at the French Cemetery, east of Woolstock following the services. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center, with a 4:15 p.m. Rosary followed by a scripture service.
Marcella Beatrice Tate, daughter of John and Luella (Brown) Tate, was born September 15, 1930 in Hadley, MN. She graduated from Lincoln High in Webster City in 1949. On July 1, 1950 Marcella was united in marriage to Virgil Melvin Mourlam at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. The couple farmed east of Woolstock for 70 years. She was a devoted farm wife, seamstress and 4H leader. Marcella was also active in St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and her community.
She is survived by her children, Connie (Dave) Burtnett of Nevada, Trudy (Ray) Schueth of Edgerton, WI, Keith Mourlam of Mason City, Kevin (Lorrie) Mourlam of Woolstock, Laure (Jeff) Orgon or Elk River, MN; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and many extended family members.
Marcella was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil, in Nov. 2018; her parents; granddaughter, Katie Haugen; siblings, John “Tom” Tate, Mary Hammitt, William Tate, Daniel Tate and Patricia Hunter Chelsvig.
